Jan 1st 2015
Having completed an entire year on the road, January 2015 is the start of my new blog. Please excuse me whilst I learn, and I hope you will stay around to enjoy this year with me. I now have a Youtube Channel with clips of my journeys if you Subscribe to it you will always know what I am doing

When I began my journal on the shortest day of 2013 I had no idea what would happen in the ensuing year – and this is how I started it.
George Eliot is reputed to have said “It’s never to late to be what you might have been” and this quote has been stuck on the inside of my kitchen cupboard door for many years. So this is the story of how I decided, in my mid sixites to sell everything, upsticks and set off on my travels with my Great Dane Phoebe as a travelling companion. My last holiday was sometime in the eighties and I have never been further north than Wigan. Plus my sense of direction and knowledge of geography hover somewhere around the zero mark I don’t know how it will end, but this is how it begins…..

Hi Sue How are you feeling. We talk about you often . Seeing the bus parked up as we arrived at work would always make our day knowing we could have a chat and see phoebe. Would be lovely to hear from you. Take care Sharon & Phil x
Feeling okay at present, and thank you for thinking of me.
Had a really, really bad time a few weeks ago, to do with rather poor NHS care whilst I was having radiotherapy. Still that is behind me now and I am beginning to get my strength back a bit. I am currently parked up on a piece of land I own down by the River Severn just outside Stourport, and I must say it is lovely here. Quiet and peaceful, and ideal for Phoebe being surrounded by fields and miles of lanes and footpaths.
Thinking about things sensibly it seems I am unlikely to go back to full-time travelling so I will probably sell Thebus 🙁 – A wrench, but he was really meant for full-time travelling, and as I have not actually done any since January 2016 it seems only sensible. I loved my travels and might try a bit of dog friendly b&b or hotels, but it is early days for me strengthwise so it’s best not to rush at things too much.
Phoebe is great, though very lively still as she is only just gone 2 years old, but she is a lovely and loving girl. Hope you are both well. And once again – thanks for thinking of me.
Any updates on your health
Thanks Graham. Have had a bad few months, but am feeling a bit more like myself at present. I am thinking I may sell Thebus as it seems unlikely I will go back full-time on the road, but I only made the decision over the weekend – so early days. I am parked up on some land I have by the River Severn and have bought a small static unit, and will gradually move all my stuff in. Its very peaceful and pleasant here. Thanks for thinking of me Sue xxx
missing you, I do hope you are o.k.
Hi there – at long last I have summoned the energy to start updating the blog, though now months behind – its a good job I have a long memory. Anyway – thanks for thinking of me. I am still not well, but feeling better and pleasingly out of pain and taking no painkillers since I started on my chemo, so that has to be good thing. Another 3 doses to go then radiotherapy next year. xxx Sue
Are you still out there? Your posts are missed.
Hi there. Yes I am still here, though not well at present, and didn’t know what to put on the blog, but I am about to update it now. My travels have come to a stop in the Limousin, but its a very lovely place to be 🙂 x
You have been busy since i last read of your travels !
I was reading your updates everyday when you first started but then they stopped and i thought maybe you had given up due to illness.
It’s going to take me a while to go back through and catch up – around a years worth of entries i think !
Shame i didn’t find you again a bit earlier – i live near Bristol ( grew up there ) & a friend of mine owns a place in Weymouth which featured on your recent youtube entry.
Very pleased to see you are still ‘on the road’ and enjoying your adventures.
Keep on trucking !
Simon
Hi Simon. Lovely to hear from you. I got a really bad dose of genuine Flu when up in Lewis in the Outer Hebrides and feeling groggy pressed a link in an email and introduced a hideous virus which ate all my photos and files. As result I decided to change to Apple, but couldn’t get it till I got back to the Midlands, then had to learn all the new ways of using it – all of which took ages. But I did update most things and now even have a Youtube Channel where I add little photo montages https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3ruSi9fP4ke7ZowPkn_BlQ
All being well (me included) I am intending to head to Spain then over to Morocco in the Spring – so – Watch this space 🙂
We bought some eggs from you some time ago. The chickens were lovely and I hatched 75% and gave three to a friend who was undergoing chemo. She is well and it was time again to get some eggs. I was delighted to see that you have changed your situation and hope that you are enjoying Spain. We have moved to Buckingham and have plenty of room and a hook up if you come this way. Enjoy and we will cope without your eggs.
Well – I am going to be in a similar position to your friend shortly as I am awaiting an appointment from the hospital nearby here in Limoges. My travels are on hold, and I may even buy a property here as it is a truly lovely place. Who Knows? I may even get some more Marans 🙂 x
Hi Sue
I got the link to this site from your calling card which you gave to my brother in law (John) after he delivered some groceries to you.
My partner (Pam) and I have had a motor-home for about ten years now and so reading through your blog was of great interest, even though we are not full-timing, some of your experiences resonated.
We are based in Stoke-On-Trent so if you are in the area and need any information, or just to chat, then feel free to email.
I am not normally a blog fan but please keep it up!
Best wishes
Frank

Hello
I found your blog by chance this evening. After reading the first post (Thomas Grey Thomas Grey – how very evocative!) I have now reached new Year’s Day and the Terror of the Thything, having forgotten my bodily needs in the race to find out what happened next. You are a wonderful writer and your adventure is worthy of a book. If I sleep in tomorrow I shall hold you personally responsible for keeping me up reading! 😉
Thank you so much for your blog, I will keep reading.
Best wishes
Thursa
